PSYCHOLOGICAL
ACCOMPANIMENT
The Euroliver Foundation
has already provided the means to hire psychologists to accompany adult
patients who have received transplants or who are awaiting transplants
in three Belgian university centers.
Saint-Luc University
Clinics - UCL Professors J.Lerut et J.B Otte
Hopital Erasme - ULB Professor M.Adler and Doctor Nadine Bourgeois
Gasthuisberg - KUL, the department of Professor Fevery
An organ transplant is a very traumatic experience, hence the need for
constant support (see the article: Psychological consequences of organ
transplants).
The task of the
psychologists and their working methods are described by Annick Rosier
of the UCL in her article "The psychologist in liver transplantation".
The Euroliver Foundation
has also funded the hiring of a psychologist for the Antwerp-based Medico-Psychological
Center - Antwerp Jewish Center (the department of Doctor B. Apfelbaum).
The Euroliver Foundation
plans to place psychologists for the accompaniment of patients in other
Belgian or European transplant centers according to the funds pledged
in the countries concerned (France, Italy, Germany, etc.).
Any appeal or recommendation
in this regard would be most appreciated. The financial support initially
envisaged to cover an annual mandate is 45,000 FF. If interested, please
do not hesitate to contact us.

ONGOING
ACTIVITIES OF THE EUROLIVER FOUNDATION
The Euroliver Foundation
seeks the intervention of public authorities and private sponsors and
very much welcomes the help and support of individuals, companies and
institutions wishing to participate in the activities of the Foundation.
The Euroliver Foundation
organizes events and fundraising initiatives to help achieve its aims.
In particular, the
Euroliver Foundation supports research into xénotransplants to
keep alive the hopes of those who have relapses of hepatitis C after
transplants carried out at the Saint-Luc University Clinics (UCL - Catholic
University of Louvain) and at the Hôpital Erasme (ULB).
