The Euroliver Foundation was set up in 1992 by Herman Tob, who, following a liver transplant in February 1991,
decided to make use of his experience, and by the man who cured him, Professor Jean-Bernard Otte, a specialist in liver transplants at the Saint-Luc University Clinics.

The Aims of the Euroliver Fondation

TO GIVE HOPE by financially supporting research into the immunology of transplantation involving all organs in the field of allografts and xenografts.

TO RAISE AWARENESS among institutions, the media and the general public of the development of disorders that can lead to hepatic insufficiency and to liver transplants, in particular, hepatitis C. The Euroliver Foundation has published an information brochure on prevention, under the auspices of the Gastro-enterology Department of the GAEN Unit of the Saint-Luc University Clinics (Professor A. Geubel).

TO PROVIDE PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT for patients waiting to receive transplants or who have already received transplants, in particular in dealing with the psychological and physical side effects that occur in the course of the therapy required for a successful organ transplant (osteoporosis, neurological and nephrological disorders, etc. after treatment with cortisone or cyclosporine).
